On nice days I like to get some fresh air and walk around my neighborhood. Have you noticed rainbows popping up in windows as you walk? I have! All around the world families have been making rainbows to display outside their homes. Rainbows symbolize happiness and hope and, while we're somewhat confined to our homes, displaying them is a way to reach out and show hope and kindness to friends and neighbors without physically interacting with them. It's also become a fun game for kids (and adults, like me!) to go around and count the rainbows they can find.
Have you made a rainbow yet? You can use any materials you have. I used watercolor paint. If you have a printer, you can download a coloring page I made (click here). Can you spot the rainbow on my house? And don't forget: The next time you go for a walk, hunt those rainbows!

Tomorrow, March 31, is National Crayon Day! To celebrate I thought it would be great to view a read-aloud of The Crayon Box That Talked by Shane DeRolf (click here). After viewing, if you have a printer, you can print out these coloring pages to color! Will you use just one crayon or all of them?
Coloring Page 1 Coloring Page 2 There are so many great things being shared on social media these days. My sister shared this project the other day that she did with her own children, and I decided to do it as well! All you need is sidewalk chalk and tape! If you don't have a wood fence, you can do it on a sidewalk or driveway, or anywhere you would normally draw with chalk! The steps are super easy:
So, as an art teacher, I like to try and think creatively. I've got over 1000 students between two schools and want to find a way to reach as many of them as I can - and bring some fun and learning through art during these strange times. I've never made a website, but I knew Weebly had an area focused on educators and students, so I thought this would be the way to go. I started trying to navigate this new venture yesterday and I'm sort of getting it. So, bear with me (this is really me talking to myself right now).
